Techskills Was a total Rip off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I enrolled at Techskills in North Carolina in 2006 The course was complete BS. You basically look at a computer screen, answer some questions and then when you get ready for a test, you just do some quick memory work and pass the test. The instructors were not really helpful as they are called "mentors" There was no hands on instruction for the IT work involved. There were a few labs but the equipment in the lab was old broken computers, parts and empty computer shells and a few racks with nothing functional on them. There was no real lab work, nothing to build, put together or make actually work. I learned more on my own devices at home than I did at Techskills. Whenever I had a question that related to the course, the "mentors" were brain dead and unable to actually help. When I checked out Techskills, they talked about being a great school, job placement, career building and so forth. None of what they offered was actually delivered. I basically was given access to reading materials, Microsoft exams (which I had to pay more money for) and a lame lab that wasn't even functional for real world experiences. Stay away from these "For profit" schools. I wish I would have never went to Techskills. I didn't even pursue an IT career. I became a real estate broker instead.

I started at techskills back in 2006 i graduated high school early and went to school. i paid 11,000 with interest for the medical billing and coding program. I did finish my courses, but I was not told that I had to pay additional money for my certification. I also was not told that it was a self learning basis. It was super easy to cheat the tests and systems instructers were barely there. Any way i scheduled my testing and by the time it was my time to go there to pay and take the test that location had been shut down. I have called every location that hasnt been shut down and its afffiliates just to get my records so that i could show that i actually did participate in that program and my scores to show that. My work book was never checked i had no guidance what so ever i was 18 for petes sake. it was a waste of time money breathe and gas.

8000 Dollars down the drain

I took the whole Medical program that Techskills (Brookfield, WI) offered.

I completed the Pharm Tech, Medical Coding, Medical Billing, and Medical Assistant programs.

My time here was a total joke.

3 weeks after I started my "teacher" quit. She was replaced by a lady who lasted about a month. Finally they hired a lady who lasted the duration of my 12 months.

Every time I had a question, I was told by the teacher to: "re-read the chapter in the system." Did she actually understand any of what she was assigned to instruct??

When my 12 months were done, they would not help me look for jobs stating that I was not a student there anymore. They simply gave me a list of online job sites....

I did actually get a Medical Coding job but it paid far under the 50k they bragged I would get. (I got 14 per hour...)

I quickly learned at my job that I had learned nothing. I was not remotely prepared to Code in a DME setting.

I learned more in my first month on the job than I learned in 12 months at Techskills. My boss even told me that I was scammed.

I complained to BBB about this company and they never responded. I guess that is why they are rated F.

I am sure I am not the only person who thinks they should be refunded for this joke of a program.

Not As Promised

Was supposed to return last year to pass take my last 2 certification tests that were part of my tuition. I had gotten a letter to return to the Indianapolis campus. When I tried I was told there was no longer an Indianapolis Campus but they were going to go into partnership with another business who would then honor their promise. They also never found me a job that was promised. Now I cannot find any contact info for them. I just want them to do as they promised and help me to find a job. I now owe all kinds of money and have no job to pay for it.

Tech Skills is a scam!!

I enrolled with Tech Skills in 2007. I cannot believe that the state of Colorado allows this establishment to continue to exist. There are NO classes- everything is supposedly self-taught. There is no structure, no formal classes, only "study-hall" type of arrangements where everyone shares access to the person assigned to field questions. I attempted to withdraw but was sabotaged by TS staff. If you are looking for a way to earn your MCSE or similar, find a legitimate way to do so, not through TS- you will regret it. The cirriculum will be tough wherever you sign, but at least other places such as Hensmann are far more legitimate.

Techskills Clevaland Ohio

Beware of this school if they even still have the campus open in Independence ( was in existence as of 4-2011. I entered the MCSA program there and successfully completed my A+, Network+ and MCP 270 certifications but was booted out after 12 months for supposed slow progress which I appealed since I was 1/2 way through my 290 course and was told I could get up to 18 months to complete all courses by the admissions advisor (a complete lie- get any extension promised at the inception of your agreement in writing not verbal). The appeal was denied for no valid reason. This campus has very high turnover. All staff and instructors with the exception of the receptionist left in a 9 month period from the time I enrolled and as the previous poster wrote there is no valid externship program through this campus. Run and keep running. I was promised the world and was left with *** instructors who did not qualify explanations of any questions I had during labs with the exception of one good, competent instructor this group of incompetent clowns did nothing to help me. If you can do labs independently with no instructor intervention then go for it. If you get tied up with technical questions related to the I.T. labs then forget it. You will not receive adequate help. I have heard other Techskills campuses are o.k. (told this by a Techskills employee). But the Cleveland one is a joke and they lost the Pearson Vue accreditation as a test center for CompTIA and Microsoft exams. I am now left to complete my 290-291 courses independently but still have not been able to negotiate the balance of the student loan to Techskills down to reflect responsibility only for the 3.5 out of 5 courses I was able to complete. Techskills will promise the world and deliver the bare minimum- and I write that using the term loosely. Good luck!

Took my education for granted and scammed me!!!!!!!

I started at techskills 6-10. They promissed me on the job training on all office equipment: Multiline phone, copier, mail machine, how to do all medical forms in the office, work at your own pace, resume, cover letter help. Well that was a joke!! Your pretty much teaching yourself at their pace they set for you!! There are no Certified Instructors!! They are noneducated people like us with no education!! The one's that get jobs are the one's being paid by techskills to make techskills look good! People wake up and use your voice and put techskills to shame! I am ashamed of this place that calls themselves a school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The instructor in the Aministrative Assist. and Acounting/Bookkeeping spent his time reading emails.

I was told the instructors would teach. People were cheating all around me.........and I spent 4-5 hours a day there.

Bring back Ole time teaching.....when a teacher taught and the computer was a tool.

I almost forgot. I had to become a *** to pay for for my rent since my boyfriend kicked me out because I couldn't finish school.

My 4 kids are living with the guys who "think" they are the daddies but who knows. Anyways, since I have been taking my meds for the last month and I am feeling better. I have come to realize I am maybe a little ***

My dad says he will pay for me to go to beauty school as I can't handle computers.

Less *** people in beauty school too. I do my doggie's toenails and they look great.

Guest

I know exactly how you feel. I am also a former student of techskills.

I would complain about the internet service and they made me look like I was some nutcase. I was the only one in the school that had internet problems. Then the f*ggot school director disconected the internet service to the ethernet plugs so I couldn't use the internet. He knew the wirless network didn't work from time to time.

He didn't like me because I spoke out against injustice of the educational system including the problems of techskills, and aparently I got people thinking and he didn't like that. He is a control freak, he lies to people and he f*cks with the educational program of the school. When I confronted the issue about the wireless network being sabotoged and doing little sneeky stuff to make my life miserable at school, he does what he can to make me look like a crazy person. The other instructor lies to cover his bosses *** and the third guy makes me look like I am a sorry *** that always seems to have problems at school.

They know full well that the school director f*cks with the whole system to show the head school director which by the way is a h*mos*xual and he has a recruiter that likes to suck his *** almost every evening. I saw them through the window, they forgot to close the blinds when they turned off the lights. The teachers know not to go in the office between 5 - 7pm because the head school director likes to get a bl*w job right before he goes home. The recruitor that works evenings is the one that has to give it to him if he wants to keep his job.

Sorry, I got side tracked. The head school director believes that the assistant school director is the only one that can keep things in order. The assistant school director creates the problem, then he offers the solution.

The bottom line is that techskills spends more time screwing off and jerking people around. One recruiter never returned my e-mails.

Techskills is a joke. I just found out after being unemployed for almost 2 years, if you don't mind living like a rat for 4 years, you can have student aid pay for your dorm and food if you are at a public college. Also if you don't mind going to school year round then you have a place to stay at governments expence for 4 years while you get your bachelors degree. The school gives you a job part time through the work study program and that should help you with food expenses.

The dorms have a laundry room, electricity and water is provided for free and now they have tv in the dorms with basic cable. My dad said in his time tv's were not allowed in the college dorms along with drugs and alcohol. Boy have times changed.

I am sorry to go off into tangents but I believe everything this gentleman is saying because I experience the same thing when I went to techskills. Techskills is just wasting government money and most of the government money goes to the CEO's pocket and very little goes to education.

I Got A Job - thank you TechSkills

I personally loved TechSkills. I was a career changer, earned my certifications in record time, passed my vendor exams, and then used career seervices to help me with my resume and was hired prior to my last certification. That was the norm for all that were enrolled when i was at the Mesa Campus. I would strongly reccomend to anyone that has drive or ambition to get ahead in life. I am a true believer of customer service and it is a shame that people only comment when they are mad - we need to take the time out to comment on the good more often!

Didn't get a job! *** TechSkills! Thanks for taking my 10,000 dollars and teaching me old programs you sorry sacks of sh*ts! They get pist off every time you go in there to ask them a question. Its dark in the office, why is it dark in the office? How come everytime you ask the same question you get a different answer from people? How come recruitors are to *** lazy to return your phone calls or e-mails? How come the school director is too *** lazy to spend 2 minutes to talk to you?

How come the school director looks at *** internet *** instead of doing his job which is evaluating extensions? How come the people that work there are G*Y?

How come nobody is hiring at the town where I'm at? How come their is no jobs?

How come you sound like a sl*t ***

This website is a total joke. You allow people to place ridiculous and totally unsubstantiated claims just so you can make a buck by charging the companies money to remove such complaints.

People like Sarah do nothing but spew hateful and outright lies! I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone who works for the site itself.

Get a life you losers!

Guest

You earned your certifications in record time? What is record time according to you.

Either you are a genious and I know a genius when I see one. I met two geniouses in my life and both were *** one of them was my teacher but he wasn't quite as difficult as the other genious. Geniouses are are only 2% of the population and a "real" genious could finish a course in one weak if that person bust his *** studying. But many geniuses are lazy and learn at the same rate as other people, it just takes less time and less effort to learn stuff.

For an average intelligence person, they have to spend more hours studying while a genius would not have to spend as much time studying the same material. So you are saying you are a genius? I don't know why I get a gut feeling that you are full of *** because the courses TechSkills offers are not easy. Unless you are studying a course you have familiarity with, or you are a genius, most likely you are full of ***

You may have performed fallacio in record time, but I doubt you studied and pass the vendor exams in record time.

And as far as people in Mesa, Arizona getting hired before they finish their certification, that means the economy is booming over there.

I tell you what, I will submit some applications for jobs over there and I will know if you are full of *** when nobody responds to my applications. How does that sound to you?

Guest

How can we comment on good when so many companys are constantly trying to take advantage of people? You say you are from the Mesa campus?

I had to look in google maps: Mesa, Arizona is where you must have gone to school. There is a posibility that it is recognized in that area but in other parts of the country the economy is still very bad. Here in Dallas you have a bunch of *** men in management that force men to participate in *** sex in order to keep their jobs, my husband was fired because he refused to be the recipient in a sexual advance, and he was fired for it. We are suing the company for wrongful termination.

If nobody is posting how wonderful things are, maybe there is nothing good going on in peoples lives. But what you are doing is rubbing in peoples faces how you succeeded and how wonderful your life is, and who knows maybe your not telling the whole story.

Did you get the job by demonstrating skill or did you get the job by another means, if you catch my drift. You are trying to keep people silent by making comments like: "boy I wish people wouldn't write when they are angry?" How do you think the womens liberation movement got started?

You *** You think anything got accomplished by being silent. How do you think women got their rights? It wasn't by keeping our mouths shut and sitting on our thumbs. You are a discrace to everything women have fought for, you are a boble head bimbo that takes it up the behind.

Which is probably how you got your job. So how do you think the American revolution got started, you think it got started by keeping our mouths shut and sitting on our *** No! Americans stood up and complained against tyrany and one of the ways they did it, is by sending a letter to King George of England and we told him to go *** himself! You are Queen Sl*t and I am going to tell you to go *** yourself too!

We Americans will never be silenced and that means tyranical co*k sucking b**ches like you will not silence us! *** you ***

Guest

Wow, you are one of those people that like to have your head up your rear end. I know that comment was made to, shut people up when they have ligitimate complaints.

Americans must never stop complaining if their is an injustice.

Silence means acceptance. F, U, and your New World Order.

TechSkills

I went to TechSkills through WorkForce. I don't even know where to begin. We will talk about the one located in Addison, Texas. The assistant school Director is a true piece of work. He sabotaged my education because he wants to play High School games and make employees look bad so he can look like the savior to the Head School director. There is a counselor performing oral sex on a certain employee. They have time to screw around with each other sexually but they sure don't have time to spend 5 minutes talking to me about certain academic problems. Its not hard to figure out, the door to the office is closed, the lights are out and both cars are still in the parking lot. The answers to the test are wrong and when you present it to the teachers or school management they come up with some off the wall explanation to make you believe it is correct. When you take your Microsoft Test the computer blacks out, meanwhile loosing valuable time on your test. The teachers are OK its a certain manager that wrecks peoples progress. There was a ton of wireless routers in the closet that probably worked just fine but the assistant school director keeps taking the wireless router out of the wireless lab to minimize coverage and he goes to the server and starts screwing with the connections so you cant plug your computer to the wall. Work Force paid the school 9,000 dollars for my education. The school claims they help people find jobs and they don't. They lost contracts from employers due to their professionalism. i.e. management. I can't prove it but the assistant school director made a promise to write in a students time for workforce in exchange for infecting a group of computers in different parts of the school with a virus. The computers are not linked together so it wasn't possible for the virus to spread. Somebody had to manually infect each computer with a USB port. I couldn't use many computers and based on my ignorance at the time I was afraid that my laptop would get infected. Now I know better. The point is, do not go to this school because they want you to know 2 years of education in 6 months. Even if you were a "genius" it's not enough time to learn all the subjects required for certification. P.S. they don't give you a certificate of completion when you are done with the course, they assume a transcript is good enough. If you have a question for your counselor he never returns your phone calls or e-mails. Even if you catch him he doesn't have the courtesy to take you to his desk and talk to you, he has you standing at the doorway while he is leaving.

Well, that is true F*g enabler, but as usual you did not read the article completely and now you have just made a horses *** of yourself. Do you know how st*pid people sound when they make comments without reading the article completely.

I agree with your comment but unfortunately it didn't have much relevance to the article presented. I gather you are trying to imply that the person is fabricating things to cover for the fact that he or she didn't do well. You can't make that stuff up, it is too much detail to be dismissed as nonsense. Sir, I think you have the reading comprehension of a 3rd grader or you were paid by TechSkills to bash the person writing this article.

99.9% of the complaints about any school for that matter have to do with the students ethics (lack of), will (lack of), and personality (no wonder they are unemployed) more then any other factor. School is not spoon fed nor can you just coast through to the end.

You have to work hard and sacrifice a lot to be successful. Most who enroll in private career training colleges don't poses these traits and therefore fail and blame everyone but themselves.

Here in indianapolis , there is no computer labs nor routhers or hubs,SWITCHESto hook anything up to use as learning aids. the instrutor in charge had to look up each and every answer ask to him in the computer 1st because he could not give an answer on his own.The director of the school new nothing about technology.

The learning tools provided by techskills was a book ( mybe).

So you have tlearn how to memorize the fastest way you can.The director of the school decided that we have to go throuth the whole course then come back and study for the ventors certs. It this smart or what? I call and talked to a mr. joshua at techskills , this man took me for a total fool.

He changed his tele numberso i could longer contact him about how they cheated me as well. but i bet someone else can and he will not bull *** them.

Most of the negative reviews I am reading about the Addison location sound spot on to me. I used to work there.

Perhaps they've completely gotten new staff, new management, and stopped paying the state under the table. When I was there, that was happening. AND the teachers were more like judges than tutors. And the "learning" was to sit at a computer and read to yourself.

You could ask questions, but usually, according to the students I talked to, that was met with a pseudo-hostility for "not doing it right" instead of an offer to help educate.

So perhaps times have changed. Good to know that people are no longer being mistreated and ripped off IF that is the case.

Well, I just finished my program at TechSkills, Cincinnati. I was sent into the market place to a job interview, that I arranged, with an incomplete transcript ( even though I completed the program) and a certificate of completion that looked like it came from a dime store.

My Instructor couldn't (or wouldn't) answer any questions, explain the work or even operate the programs she was teaching.

I completed the program out of sheer force of will.

I would not recommend this program to any one.

Purchase the Pharmacy Technician Certification Review books for your self and learn on your own. You will save thousands and a ton of head aches.

Tech Skills High Point NC

In an attempt to become more marketable I enrolled in Tech Skills in High Point,NC. I could not get help from the "instructors" for several reasons; not an instructor in the school has every completed a college education, the instructors are always busy and cannot be bothered; the instructors or unmotivated and do not care about you as a student. The director is ignorant and unprofessional. The only thing they care about is getting your tuition. If you care about your education go to a Community College or University that will allow you to learn. After going to Tech Skills I am unable to get employment.

TechSkills took my money without giving me the education promised

7 years ago I signed up for a (membership) to Techskills(Kansas City) and was unable to follow through because of legal problems. I took the course for approximately 1 hour and was unable to finish. I had people get a hold of them to let them know that I was unable to finish and all they did was take the money and run. Now the lender (Key Bank, whom they don't deal with anymore) is holding me accountable for it 7 years later and have my credit report messed up so I can't buy a house. Now I am up in arms trying to figure out what to do to get this straightened out.

I probably worked there when you signed up and YES Techskills is a JOKE. I was the best at my job (wont say cause i dont want you to know who i am) but it was the rest of the crew who were worthless. The cost is NOT worth it - just by some CD/DVDs and a book and learn on your own youll be alot better off in the long run.

I thnk we worked there together...i was there from the beginning....yes this place is a joke but as you know we worked with what we had to work with...MGT is a JOKE, mostly retards...I knew when I started this was going to be a short gig but ended up being there 7 years. I am surprised they lasted this long.

I just checked their website and its down so I think they are completely shut down, now.

Good luck man in the resolution to your problem. I know when I was there we had a lot of success.

Guest

They are very willing to work with students that communicate with them. It's all about proper communication.

Many schools can only communicate with other family members through a power of attorney and legal documentation giving them permission.

They would have honored your enrollment after your legal problems were corrected. You should have reached out to them and see what they could do about helping you get the education you paid for rather than a refund as most schools do not offer refunds after a set amount of time.

Guest

Sounds like you need to stay out of trouble and none of this would have been a problem.

Tech Skills Absolute Rip Off

I went to Tech Skills for Medical Billing and Coding (billing was a joke. They had us basically fill out the forms that need to filled out and send to the insurance company, something that a 4th grader could do). Coding was quite difficult, and the one teacher we had was stretched for time, and very limited. This school is not even recognized by many institutions (like Jewish Medical Center, here in Denver). After graduating, the staffing company that I applied with said they were looking for people with experience. One person that was attending when I was there got a part-time job for $12.00 hr, as a coder. When advertised they said we would be making around $40,000 a year. I am still doing was I was doing before going to Tech Skills. You have to pay for the coding test (state test...$250.00, and you better pass, or you pay for the test again.) Please! Do not waste anything on this place! All the community colleges can give a much better service, and you will have alot more confidence about passing the state exam when you are done!!

I went to Techskills 7 years ago. I operate an escort agency in Las Vegas now.

See how much good Techskills did? Absolutely none. Don't waste your money. It was just a bunch of mentors that sit around and get paid to get you through questions you may have.

It's all computer aided instruction. Hands on class training would be more relative.

Guest

no college degree. 8 months of hard work at TechSkills.

I hold Certifications (A+, Network+,MCP, MCSA) and now make $40,000 in my first IT job.

I found the job myself, but got lots of guidance from TechSkills.

Other students have entry jobs starting at $14 per hour. Maybe your problem is you like to blame others for your own lack of commitment.

Guest

Any time that anyone goes into a new field there is entry level, experienced pay, and then Management. Anyone that is looking to get training find out the starting pay before you get trained.

Medical coding is only $12 to start and long term with experience you should be in the high 30's or 40K. With experience though....

Do your homework people before committing to anything in life. Do some research you are online look up salary.com or payscale.com.

Most people who frequent these sights are victams not victors TechSkills rocks!

Hey, Justo, I paid 6K to the *** at TS and they screwed me in the heinie real good. I paid back my loan in full all at once.

I'm complaininig now and I paid off in full. BTW,SLM has the governments blessing to pursue you until you pay it off. It means that they can even garnish your Social Security when you get to retirement age. I attended here in Denver where Justin Halladay STOLE my money by lying to me and deceiving me until his comission was safe and he got paid.

Get your facts straight about SLM and the power lenders have when you sign for that loan.

And NEVER do business with Justin Halladay who is now at Sanford-Brown in NJ stealing from hard working people there. Pass it on.

Guest

@Gregory

I have a friend who worked for TechSkills for 5 years and she said there is no such thing as paying 4K for Direct Job Placement. Are you sure you're talking about TechSkills?

Also, anyone who thinks they can take start school for a new career and come out making 40k is delusional. Just like anyone who changes careers, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Anyone who just gives up because they didn't immediately get what all they wanted in life doesn't deserve anything they do get.

my $.02

Guest

I paid in full AND paid an extra $4,000.00 for direct job placement. Passed the National Exam on my very first attempt...

no government grants. Now paying my monthly Sallie Mae loans for a worthless education program in Medical Coding. It happens to everyone...regardless of government grants !!!

And who happens to be paying for those grants in this scam.... YOU the taxpayer !!!

Guest

Hmmm...which is better....$0/hour unemployed or $12/hour and working?

Dana S Jtj

Really?

I am paying on a student loan..

What an arrogant determination...

The people who complain about TechSkills the most are the ones who go under government grants and don't have to pay a dime.

TechSkills a Place of Rip-off

Tech Skills fees are high, and they will not refund the money. I joined for a CCNA class for each class tuition fees cost are more than $2500 +. I happen to take the same course/class in a community collage near me for $350. The time fame for CCNA is very limited at Tech Skills, and only if you were a self-educator would that collage be of any help. Moreover, beware of their cancellation policies you have only 3-day window and if not you are loose $800 +. I lost my $ 800 to TechSkills, even though I did not even begin my class for another two weeks. Tech Skill blames on some State Law, which allow them to rip-off from the canceling students. My advice to the students is to think twice of going to Tech Skills, and look out for the same programs offered in your community colleges next to you. If not look for the Alliance program in your neighboring community colleges that would save you lots of money. Schools like Tech Skill just have one or two servers and routers whereas most community colleges have 8 to 10 servers and devices. Tech Skills are always understaffed and help comes at cost of the students. My personal experience tells me Tech Skill is a rip-off college. I would not recommend TechSkills, then again I couldn't b/c it is defunct. When I did attend in Greensboro & Raleigh they were unable to keep a consistent teaching staff, who were amateurs at best.

Administrators were just as bad. I have a MS degree so I knew when I was in a good class. All info. was by online instruction; no one to to refer to if you posed a question; and hands-on was non-existant.

I finally attended a community college where there was real instruction sessions. Techskills is out of business: Good Riddance !

Tech Skills is the greatest. If you need training for the hottest career fields, this is the place.

I attend techskills for the microsoft office specialist certification. They have taken me from knowing very little to being fully operational with the microsoft office program.

My grades started out average and progressively got better. I really like it because I dont have to attend everyday, and they're open on Saturday. Im 28 years old and far out of school but this experience has helped me build onto my career

Guest

I also was taken by Tech Skills. The person that "recruited" me was "no longer with Tech Skills" two days after she talked me out of $7000.

Should have been a BIG red flag. One on one? More like there are two people who sit in the classroom and tap you into a computer for a multiple choice test you can memorize and ace every time. I was also turned down for jobs because of lack of experience.

Does anyone recognize Tech Skills programs? I haven't found any.

It's been 4 years and I'm going to be paying for a long time to come. Don't waste your time or money.

Dallas, 100% agreed with kevin cary. it's a place for self taught programs and cost nearly $2000. lmao.

I took the medical billing/coding program at the Techskills in WI in 2007.

It was the biggest mistake of my life. I took out a 7000 loan to sit in their outdated lab doing tests that didnt prepare me for anything.

In my one year at the school 2 teachers quit!!! That's right I had 3 teachers in one year. after completing my program it took me over a year to find a job in the coding field. It took me about 2 weeks into my job to realize that the school preparted me for nothing.

I tried to get my money back, and I was literally laughed at.

The Job advisor there refused to help me find work!!! Dont waste your time or money at this school.

Guest

do not go to techskills because they are a ripoff so stay away from them.

Guest

Surprised on the feedback. I took one course in Tampa and they were very fair.

Explained things pretty clearly and I was able to finish my program and get certified. I had fallen behind on my work and they worked with me. Nothing bad to say but nothing great to say either.

It's school! You just have to be focused and want to get it done.

Guest

went to Techskills and I have some good and some bad to say. From what I know Megan works at Techskills that explain her post. I never had a problem with her I just stayed away from her ?-? not a friendly girl so you know. Da instructors really come up to you and say ( Hey you need to take a test ) Funny hu. Yea its a Certification school not a training school. When I left there I got let go from my new job due to lack of computer knowledge. I tried getting help from the instructors but it was kinda hard. they only have one or two real lab computers. They hardly ever use them.I asked for for help on a subject for 3 days straight but never got it.

Ho yea what does Thought Paterns class have to do with IT they forced me to take it just to kill time and so they can get paid more money watch out they do that you study at there speed not yours ?? Think about that..

Okay GoOd things are parking is free and all of my certification was paid for by the state. All i did is took da practice test over over and over and passed ...They know they didn't care.Every one does it there.

If you are thinking of going go for it but first read reviews there are many on this skwel some goo but most bad Da good are passed of by Techskills employees bad are mostly from pissed of students

Im kool I got certified and now working with a company that is retraining me hands on ..Not a bad deal

Shots out to Cathy in da financial aid da medical Instructor Sunita you two rock. Hey Gabriel you still cant find a job lol supper senior When are u ganna leave man its been a while I wish you luck buddy lol

Wouldn't do-it again

I currently enrolled in techskills in Raleigh. I would have to say my experience has not be positive.

Techskills has very old equipment. Most of my online labs usually do not work correctly. As for the one to one, well that really does not exist. They do have instructors by they are all part-time and it really not one to one.

If you are a person learn only through self taught programs this might be the place for you other wise I would not recommend Techskills to anyone. They over charge and under deliver.

Why all the fuss!

I'm not sure what all the ruckus is about, I’m going on my second year of education at techskills. I’m attending the Minnesota campus in Bloomington. I have also been to the Milwaukee and Madison campuses. From what I can tell, all of the locations operate the same Microsoft, Cisco and other IT classes. I’m very satisfied with the classes I have taken, I currently have my A+, N+, MSCA, CCNA. I tried out the community college programs before finding this school. To be honest I needed the extra help that is offered at techskills. My other schools had the instructors available for only a few hours per week. I like that I can come in before or after work to get help with my labs or ask questions. I noticed that most of the complaints with this school are dealing with refunding. I havent had to deal with any of that here. I’m surprised to see they even offer a refund. None of my other schools gave me a dime when I withdrew. I have worked hard to get where I am. Just like anything in this world you get in what you put in.

Well if you don't know what all the fuss is about, maybe you should get your head out of your fat *** and pay attention to what people are saying. Clean all the *** out of your ears and listen real good. People are tired of being *** by Techskills, OK! Just because they didn't *** with you, does not mean they didn't *** with other people. It is a part of managements egocentrical desire to make money, they shoved everything that was ethical and christianic in the trash, and they chose to follow in the footsteps of Satan. Techskills is a bunch of devil worshiping bas*ards and all they want to do is make money even if it means *** people over. You may have gotten *** and not even know it. Did you know that Techskill charges aproximately 3,000 dollars in Microsoft licence fees? Did you read your contract or did you just throw it in the trash? Did you get free Microsoft programs that were suposed to be paid by the 3,000 dollars?

No, I bet you didn't because you were told by those clowns you had to finish in a certain amount of time. Do you know why? because those disks they give you is only good for 90 days. Which is what you get when you go into Barnes and Noble book store and purchase a Microsoft book.

Has the light come on yet in your head, or do you still have your head so far up your freaking *** you have tunnel vision? Now, do you know what the fuss is about? You geriactric mor*n! Maybe your head is so full of murcury, flouride, and THC you can't comprehend what I am saying. Do you get it know! You should, since you suposedly have all those *** certifications.

What about Cincinnati Techskills. What are the complaints?

Email suejpez@***.com. Thanks

I am thinking about going to Tech Skills. I wouldnt complain to much about the price.

If you ever wanna get ripped off goto Vaterott College. My loan was 14k to learn how to program in 60 weeks. We learned ancient programs and finished the coarses barely touching the ones used today. The people in my classes were absolutley ignorant, and the instructors didnt care.

It was all a hoax to get you to join thier bachelor program for an additional sum of money.

If you didnt take it you were screwed.

To me, with all the certifications you got for 13k, I would be proud.

Guest

I was laid off twice, and after the second time, I went to TechSkills. The State of MN paid for the IT Series 5 course, so I was able to get my Network + and Linux+ certifications.

Cost was $6,500, but it didn't cost me a dime. Well worth it. The courses are designed so you study and do all of the work.

Nothing wrong with that. People have to stop whining so much and just get the job done.

I've received good guidance and educational assistance from techskills. There are numerous resources available to help you complete your studies successfully.

All it takes is the students time and application. The staff has been supportive and informative. Job placement is difficult in these economic times, yes. But I did have a successful internship, and gained some valuable skills and knowledge.

I was under confident when starting the program, I had been out of school for over 10 years. I feel more confident now. It does take work on the students part, it cannot be handed to you.

Ultimately, your success is your responsibility, and they will work with you. I've compared my experience to friends who are students in a community college, and I receive more individualized attention.

Quote from sherry: I'd love to know what you paid for your program. Mine cost almost $13,000 for MCSE, A+, N+ and certifications over an 18 month time frame.

How much was your tuition.

Thats an awesome price.

I paid $15,000 to go to MTI just for the A+. Yea I know.....

My experience was impressive beyond words. I typically don’t write these things, but these people bent over backwards for me.

One example is early on my computer failed. I was starting to fall behind. The director of the school saw that I was stressed out one day and asked me what was wrong. I told him about my PC trouble. He smiled and offered to help, I said I would take it to geek squad when I had enough money. The next day when I was in the break room. He brought me a laptop. It was his older laptop. He said I could use it as long as I needed to and told me to give my computer to an instructor to fix it.

Seriously what school will go to that level for a student. I have been to CC’s a state school and now certification training as an adult. I must say this place rocks, I'm sure there are people that struggle with the intrinsic motivation factor. It’s the same people that blame everyone before themselves. I’m living proof. You will see from the first day that this place is different. I hope this review helps you all good luck.

TechSkills training is for ADULTS not kids!I have been attending TechSkills .NET certification here in St Louis. While I cannot speak for all offices, I have been very happy with the experience to date.

The training is self-paced to a degree, so a student has to have the self-discipline to apply themselves to the program. The offices are open till 9 PM M-F and till 2 PM on Saturday. In St Louis, if you get yourself to class you will receive all the assistance needed. The instructors bend over backwards to be available on-site and by e-mail and phone.

They have been both patient and helpful.

If you are struggling with the material or the time requirements they will do everything they can to be flexible and ensure your success. Thumbs up from me, this is exaclty what I was looking for, and no I am not a company rep or receiving any benefit/comp-ensation for this review.

Don't be mislead, techskills offers no job placement. After graduating all I received from them was at a boy - no job placement.

All they offer is resume help and job leads.

Better research this before signing up as this is a big mis-repersentation. I wish someone would file a class action law suit against techskills because they deserve it.

I want to second this post, i found my techskills location to be spot on. Very happy with my time spent. 6 months study and I'm an MCSA certified, way better than two years at a cc tech school.

Techskills Training School is Bad Buisness

I attended Techskills School in Denver Colorado, and I sincerely regret it. They charge a $2500 volume licence fee for their "training" software which is hardly worth its cost, a compilation of redundant questions that hardly prepare anyone for the actual exam, the "Testprep" Software is most likely plaigarized from handbooks.

If anyone is considering Techskills for anything, I would say don't. Go to a community college and take the same classes, plus youll get health insurance and people who actually care about your success.

Carmen Robl and Justin Halladay of the Denver Techskills campus are Consumer vampires waiting for immigrants and people who just want to improve their lives a little.

For the student that said one day cost him $6K that is not true. They have a cancellation policy just like any other school.

The problem is students only attend one day and then don't respond to communication attempts. It is school and adult learning. Something you should want to learn so you put in the hard work that it takes to learn something new. As for the Tampa location there is only one Admissions Counselor and Five Instructors...

Hmmmmm..... They offer Certification Programs. Yuo get a certificate of completion for completing the course but that does not mean anything to an employer you are correct. That just means you passed the class good for you.

You have to sit and pass the Certification Exam in order to have it mean something.

That is when you gain the credential when you can prove that you have retained what you learned not just a certificate stating you have gained knowledge. Get certified after the class that is what carries value.

I completed the MCSA program and work at Cerner now making more money then i have ever made and i love going to work now. Thanks TechSkills for helping make my dreams come true!

He's working for Sanford-Brown which ahs had MANY of their own complaints. Tell everyone you know to not go there.

Your comment clearly proves that the TechSkills spelling department is drastically underfunded and needs to be shut down.

Guest

I too went to TechSkills here in Denver for 1 day. It cost me 6K with no recourse. Justin and Carmen ARE consumer vampires.

Guest

I agree wholeheartedly. I have been in the IT business for 17 years and I never encountered a business as poorly run as TechSkills.

The "mentor" (instructor) who started helping me got into a shouting match with one of their salespeople, interrupting a key training session. Very unprofessional. Plus their training credential meant nothing to the interviewers on my first job interview after completing the training.

The TechSkills office here in Tampa has more sales people than instructors... that should be an important warning sign.
